Federal nomination: Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner, AB

The federal seat in Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner (Alberta) was left empty by the sudden death of staunch pro-life Conservative MP Jim Hillyer in March of this year.

Mr. Hillyer had a perfect voting record on pro-life issues from the time he was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 2011 until his death. He was also outspoken in his opposition to using Canadian tax dollars to export abortion overseas.

Though there is no indication yet as to when a by-election to fill the seat will take place, there are currenlty five individuals seeking the nomination to become the Conservative candidate for that by-election:

Paul Hinman:
former provincial MLA and leader of the Alberta Alliance, which later merged with the Wildrose Party of Alberta.

Glen Motz:
former Medicine Hat Police Inspector.

Brian Benoit:
Medicine Hat businessman.

Michael Jones:
lawyer from Raymond.

Joe Schow:
office manager within the Conservative caucus.

If you have any information on the above five individuals that might help us evaluate them from a pro-life perspective, please let us know by e-mailing us here.

With so much at stake in federal politics over the abortion debate, CLC is looking for a pro-life individual of the calibre of Jim Hillyer to stand for the Conservative party nomination in Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner, and we are asking CLC supporters to be ready to help nominate such a person by purchasing a membership in the Conservative Party of Canada. Your membership makes you eligible to attend the nomination meeting and vote for a pro-life individual, thus supporting their bid to become the official Conservative candidate in the Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner by-election when it is announced.

Nominating a Conservative candidate to stand in the by-election is of paramount importance, since the Conservative Party of Canada is the only major party that will allow pro-lifers to become candidates (both the Liberal and NDP parties are tyrannically pro-abortion under their current policy platforms and leaders).
