Rating Comments: On July 18, 2011 Hudak took the cowardly approach of telling reporters that he will ape Stephen Harper's strategy of refusing to "re-open the abortion debate", if elected. Tim used to be solidly pro-life, but has not responded to a CLC questionnaire since 1995, nor done anything related to life and family issues. Shortly after winnning the leadership of the PC party in 2009, he chose to run an openly lesbian candidate in the St. Paul's riding by-election. This may signal that Hudak's world view has changed from 'socially conservative' to 'socially liberal'. Hudak had made an important campaign promise to abolish the oppressive Ontario Human Rights Commission which has been trampling the freedom of speech and freedom of religion for Ontario Christians. However, he has recently backed away from that pledge.

On family:  "I also believe it is the government's role to foster the success of the traditional family." [Letter to CLC, May 23, 1995]

Pledging to not re-open debate (or legislation) on the right to life:  "I may have signed a petition from my riding in that respect [to defund abortion], but listen, let me be clear: we are not reopening this debate..Just like the federal Parliament, we would not be reopening that issue." Hudak was pro-life at the start of his career, but has apparently become pro-abortion, as witnessed by his recent pledge to not re-open the abortion debate. Here's his statement on abortion back in the days when he wasn't afraid to be pro-life:  "I believe that it is the government's role to promote the choice of life in childbearing decisions, to encourage women to carry the babies to term and, if the child is unwanted, to give them up for adoption." Criticising the Liberal government's radical sex education plan:  "The McGuinty Liberals would rather have elitist academics, bureaucrats, and special interests decide what our children learn and when they learn it. We’re proud to put our faith in Ontario parents... Last week, after being caught attempting to sneak in changes to the Ontario curriculum that would have sex courses taught to six year-olds, Dalton McGuinty hastily backed away from his two-years-in-the-making plan".
