May
13, 2001 Tomorrow, Thursday May 14, at 12:30 p.m., a public gathering will take place on Parliament Hill in remembrance of the May 14, 1969 change in Canadian law that permitted abortion. "This event, 29 years ago, should be remembered as a Day of Infamy" says Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition. "Over two million Canadian children are now missing and their mothers exploited and hurt thanks to the shepherding of the law through Parliament by then Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and Justice Minister John Turner." The May 14 Parliament Hill event will ask Canadians to pray for the protection of preborn children. Participants will also call on Parliament to enact legislation to end the killing. Speakers at 12:30 will include Senator Michael Forrestal and MPs Norm Doyle (PC), Albina Guarnieri (Lib), Jason Kenney (Ref) and Dan McTeague (Lib). Prayers will be led by Ottawa clergymen Fr. Jim Whelan (Catholic) and Rev. Bill Buitenwerf (Evangelical). Leading pro-lifers, including Campaign Life Coalition President Jim Hughes, will also address the crowd. For further information
