Senate vote will open the floodgates and cause the
death of countless human embryos.

The Senate of Canada passed with undo haste, Bill C-6 yesterday. In a great hurry to rise today as March break begins and because Paul Martin wants this legislation before an election, the Senate of Canada passed Bill C-6. By deliberately shutting out the voices of those opposed to the legislation, Senators have refused to hear valid arguments against it.

“We are deeply disturbed and saddened by the passage of Bill C-6,” said Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition. “We had hoped the Senate would provide some ‘sober second thought’ on the issues after the legislation passed by such a slim vote in Parliament (149 to 140),” he continued. “Now we begin another era in the deliberate destruction and dehumanization of newly conceived human beings in Canada.”

“We have no confidence in regulations to be set in the future which will offer no protection to human life,” said Karen Murawsky, Public affairs Director of Campaign Life Coalition in Ottawa. “The restriction being offered will also likely be loosened in the future, when a three year review comes about,” she added.

Bill C-6:

• Will allow cloning. All forms of cloning are not banned despite the assurances to the contrary.
• Human being is not defined in the legislation. The Bill referred to “human organisms”. A human being is in existence from the time of fertilization and no amount of semantics will change that. Every power which wants to abuse and kill a segment of society has first de-humanized them.
• Human embryos will die in experimentation permitted by this legislation. Embryos will be created for research. Scientists will collect tax money to carry out these diabolical experiments.
• Adult stem cells have proven effective in the cure and control of many diseases. Embryonic stem cell research has not.

Campaign Life Coalition will continue to oppose every aspect of this immoral work. In the words of Winston Churchill, “we have entered an new dark age of perverted science.”
