Prenatal Screening is a dangerous practice

The announcement by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada that it will recommend next month that all expectant mothers undergo screening for fetal abnormalities is a troubling development.

“This is simply another ‘search and destroy’ mission on the part of the physicians,” said Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition. “More than 3 million babies have already been killed by abortion. Sex-selection is quickly becoming an option and a threat to the unborn, and now the medical profession, that is supposed to save lives, is proposing to terminate lives based on its medical version of acceptability,” he continued.

“I believe Dr. Christopher Hufeland, German Physician and medical writer (1762-1836), said it best,” reported Mary Ellen Douglas, National Organizer of Campaign Life Coalition. Hufeland stated “If the physician presumes to take into consideration in his work whether a life has value or not, the consequences are boundless and the physician becomes the most dangerous man in the state.”

Campaign Life Coalition supports and encourages the Canadian Down Syndrome Society in its public awareness campaign against this proposed action by the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada.
