The Catholic Women's League Of Canada October 10, 2000 Ms. Jakki Jeffs Dear Jakki, When the national executive ratifies the application for a life membership, the decision to confirm or validate this request is based on information provided by the diocesan or provincial council. The honour and privilege of life membership is granted by the national executive, giving the member a permanent place on the national council, accredited delegate voting status and a voice in League affairs. Your signature on the Life Member Application form at the time affirmed implicit support and service to national council with loyalty to the League as called for in the League Promise. In speaking out against the decision of duly-elected representatives, much negativity and dissension among members has resulted. Life members, who hold their membership in the League in high esteem, have expressed embarrassment that one of their sisters would allow herself to publicly convey personal opinions which contradict those of the national president, the national executive and national council. Because of the frequency with which you used your position as a life member to express your opinion publicly and because of the genuine concern of you sister life members, the national executive will be discussing your role as a life member of The Catholic Women's League of Canada at the forthcoming national executive meeting. You will be duly notified of their decision subsequent to the 199th national executive meeting. Sincerely, 1-160 Murray Park Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3X5 Tel. (204) 885-4856 Fax.
