Spruce Grove City Council must not ban 'conversion' therapy
Dear supporters in Spruce Grove,
We need your help to defend the freedom to change.
Your City Councillors in Spruce Grove will soon be voting on whether to pass a bylaw that is totally unconstitutional and harmful to those suffering with unwanted gender confusion or same-sex attraction.
Thy bylaw under consideration would ban therapy for people who want to leave the gay or transgender lifestyle.
It would ban family counselling for parents with a child who suffers from the delusion that their brain was born into the wrong body (i.e. gender dysphoria).
SEND AN ACTION ALERT EMAIL RIGHT NOW!
If this bylaw gets passed, only therapists who unquestioningly affirm children in the delusion that they were born in the wrong body, and who will immediately prescribe puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to begin transitioning to the opposite sex, will be available to desperate parents.
Based on bylaws that have been passed in other Alberta municipalities, we anticipate that Spruce Grove's proposal will likewise count as "conversion therapy" all spiritual efforts to help people overcome unwanted gender confusion or same-sex attraction. This will include spiritual direction and even simple prayer for deliverance from homosexual sin! Banned.
Pastoral guidance to help same-sex attracted persons remain chaste in accordance with their faith, will be banned! Even evangelism to LGBT individuals may become outlawed, because it will be classified as "conversion therapy".
Our freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of thought, along with LGBT individuals’ freedom to change, are all at grave risk.
