Dear CLC Supporters,

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

I ask you to join us in 30 days of prayer from May 28 - June 26, for the survival of the Delta Hospice Society, and the blessing of God upon its officers.

As many of you know from previous CLC reports, the Delta Hospice Society operates the Irene Thomas Hospice, a palliative care facility in Ladner, BC.

This little 10-bed hospice provides professional, loving, end of life comfort and medical care, and rejects any and all participation with euthanasia, in accordance with the Hippocratic Oath's principle of "Do no harm". 

It is also involved in a precedent-setting battle with the BC provincial government that has dire ramifications for all palliative care hospices in Canada. Hence the need for a national call to prayer. 

BC's socialist NDP government has stripped Delta Hospice of its funding effective February 2021, due to the hospice's morally sane refusal to kill patients.

Futhermore, the BC provincial government has announced that it will seize the private assets of the hospice, including the building, which was paid for with approximately $9-million in private donations raised by the community!

Then, it may re-open as a state-run facility that commits euthanasia on palliative care patients.

Fascism has arrived in BC, in the form of a socialist government that is bold and unashamed as it imposes tyranny. But worse still, if the NDP gets away with this, the same authoritarianism will spread to other provinces.

Modern hospice and palliative care is rooted in Christian moral teaching (i.e. the Corporal Works of Mercy) and in the practice of religious congregations for nearly 2,000 years.

Now, faced with the encroachment of a hostile and godless NDP regime, Delta Hospice has decided to reaffirm its Christian identity and has asked its membership to vote for an amended Constitution and new Bylaws that will allow it to become a Christian Society for its future endeavors. The voting will close on June 26, 2020.

To invoke God's blessing upon this voting process, Delta Hospice Society's Executive is asking all Christian brothers and sisters across Canada to join them in a 30-Day prayer campaign for the hospice and for the future of Canada. The prayer campaign will take place from May 28, 2020 to June 26, 2020.

Please pray for the following specific intentions, as request by Delta Hospice Society's President, Angelina Ireland:

1. "Pray that God would protect human life until its natural end, in Canada and at the Delta Hospice Society."
    
2. "Pray that there would be a sense of godly peace and love in the midst of this very challenging and divisive issue."
    
3. "Pray for the comfort of the Holy Spirit to be with those who are grieving the loss of family and friends."
    
4. "Pray for God's peace and blessing to be upon our nurses, doctors and staff who assist patients and families."
    
5. "Pray that our membership would vote YES to the resolutions presented and that our members would be delighted to embrace our Christian heritage."
    
6. "Pray for a bright future for the Delta Hospice Society and for our nation as we seek to honour the Lord."

CLC is grateful to help facilitate this call to prayer for the future of Delta Hospice and for our nation, which in our time is corrupted by anti-life policies that fragment families, pit individuals and interests against one another, and increasingly apply a cold-blooded calculus to decisions of fundamental moral truth.
