Victory at the Delta Hospice Society!

I'm delighted to do something that only happens infrequently in these dark days.

That is, to share some GOOD NEWS!

On Saturday, April 2, after months of delays by the pro-euthanasia lobby, the Delta Hospice Society (DHS) was able to conclude its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Two votes were held that are crucial not only to the community in Delta, BC, but to all of Canada. I am so happy to say that the pro-life side won both votes

The first vote was to elect a new Board of Directors for which there were 10 seats.  A slate of 10 pro-life candidates faced off against a slate of seven pro-euthanasia candidates.

The result? All 10 candidates on the pro-life, pro-palliative care slate were elected! These included: Angelina Ireland (the heroic current President), Danielle Martelle, Mark Ruelle, Elizabeth Lawson, Kathlyn Palafox, Jim Taggart, Richard Smyth, Alex Schadenberg, Jim Canil, and Lorena Angus.

Praise be to God!

The second vote was on whether to change the constitution and bylaws of DHS to exclude the practice of euthanasia and assisted suicide from its operations and mission.

Thanks be to God, it passed also with 3,122 Yes votes (76%) to 960 No votes (24%).

We also are so grateful to Angelina Ireland at DHS who never quit, even after BC’s NDP government defunded the society, stole their property, and worked with the media to attack Angelina’s reputation. Most others would have given up long ago.

So now, Canada officially has its first hospice sanctuary that can be totally euthanasia-free! A place where patients can be cared for at the end of their life in a place, and by staff, who share their beliefs in the sanctity and dignity of human life.

During the debate portion of the meeting, a couple of the pro-euthanasia activists hinted that there would be litigation against the results of this AGM.  Would you please pray hard that any efforts to sue in court following Saturday's AGM will not be successful?

In the meantime, during this period of Lent, let us celebrate - and be thankful to God - for this foretaste of Easter's promise!
