Thousands of Canadians to descend on Parliament Hill to #EndTheKilling

Ottawa, May 11, 2016 – On May 12, 2016, Canadians from across the country will come together on Parliament Hill and march for life through the streets of downtown Ottawa for the 19th annual National March for Life. They will stand united in calling upon legislators to #EndTheKilling and to enact legislation that will protect the life of every human being from the time of conception until natural death.

“In 1969, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau passed the Omnibus Bill that paved the way for abortion on demand in Canada which has resulted in the killing of millions of pre-born babies,” said Jim Hughes, national president for Campaign Life Coalition. “Now, in 2016, his son Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is on the verge of passing yet another deadly milestone – the legalization of euthanasia and assisted-suicide. This is not the Canada that our predecessors envisioned.”

On Thursday, May 12, the pre-march rally, which begins on Parliament Hill at 12 noon, will feature several speakers including parliamentarians and pro-life and religious leaders. The March through downtown Ottawa starts at 1:30 pm. Other March for Life related events include a Candlelight vigil on May 11, a Rose Dinner (featuring African activist and speaker Obianuju Ekoecha) and Youth Banquet (featuring speaker and writer Matt Walsh) following the march, and a full day Youth Conference on Friday May 13. Those who march in Ottawa will also be joined by Canadians marching for life in various provincial capitals.

“The March for Life which is in its 19th year, continues to attract more and more Canadians who are becoming fed up with their views being stifled and ignored by legislators,” said Mary Ellen Douglas, National Organizer for Campaign Life Coalition. “On May 12th, the thousands of Canadians who will march in Ottawa and in various provincial capitals across Canada will make sure that their belief in the right to life as a fundamental human right will be heard.”
