Pride flag battle is heating up in Waterloo Catholic
On April 14th we organized a parental rights counter-protest outside the Waterloo Catholic District School Board.
Dozens of Catholic ratepayers and other concerned stakeholders joined us to rally in support of a motion by Trustee Conrad Stanley, that, if passed, would ban all political symbols in Catholic schools, including the LGBT Pride flag.
We were also there to support a delegation who would be addressing trustees in solidarity with Stanley’s motion, Dr. Richard Christy, the former mayor of Kitchener who is currently a sociology professor. His speech was brilliant, and he urged trustees to support Stanley’s motion:
“I am here in support of the resolution by Trustee Stanley that affirms the Christian foundation of the WCDSB and seeks to protect education from the compromising political agenda of a vocal social movement.”
Some people had lined up for hours before the 6:00 PM board meeting, in order to ensure they got a seat!
Their signs included strong, clear messages about the inappropriateness of symbols which promote immoral sexual lifestyles and sex acts which are condemned as grave sins in the Holy Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Messages like “YES to Jesus, NO to Pride” zeroed in on the fact that the LGBT flag celebrates the very deadliest of the seven deadly sins - Pride.
We hope that the elected school board trustees got the message.
We were also pleased to see the PPC candidate in Kitchener Centre’s federal election, Mr. Wasai Rahimi, come join the parental rights protest, bearing a large Canadian and Ontario flag.
Rahimi’s choice of signage was fitting given that Trustee Stanley’s motion, if passed, would only allow the Canadian, Ontario, and the official school board flag to be displayed at Catholic schools going forward.
I was also interviewed by CTV News as a local Catholic parent and separate school ratepayer who supports Conrad Stanley’s motion.
This was important to re-balance the false narrative that mainstream media painted about last month’s board meeting which was swamped by trans and gay activists.
LGBT activists still outnumbered parents
Although Catholic parents and stakeholders were very visible, the anti-Christian teachers’ union and LGBT activists still outnumbered us by a factor of at least 3 to 1.
When you think about it, it’s rather underhanded and downright rude for these militants – who reject Catholic moral teaching – to conduct a hostile take-over of a Catholic school system which exists to pass on the faith to the next generation, by overwhelming it with their numbers.
Not faithful Catholics, they reject Christian teaching, so why do they get a voice?
Isn’t it a bit like someone barging into your home, uninvited, sitting on your coach, putting their feet up as if they own the place, and forcing you to watch their choice of TV shows? This is so unfair.
When I was standing in line to enter the board meeting, I asked the young man ahead of me (whom I assumed was taking cross-sex hormones since he had largish, developing breasts), if he was even a Catholic.
His response was, “God no! I’d be embarrassed to be a Catholic”. I also overheard him saying that he has performed burlesque shows.
Wow!
So, these are the “community stakeholders” that trustees like Tracey Weiler, David Guerin and Renée Kraft want to represent, and be guided by, in their decisions?
Why not, eh?
Let’s ignore the faithful Catholic parents who are demanding the board stop sexualizing their kids with LGBT propaganda!
Let’s listen instead to the non-Catholic, transgender burlesque performers who hate the Church!
That makes a lot more sense, doesn’t it?
The Catholic school board exists to be in service of faithful Catholic electors, not of heretics or those who despise the Catholic faith.
The latter need to be true to themselves, leave the Catholic board, and go to the public-school board where the transgender and homosexual lifestyles are openly celebrated.
New Board Chair Elected. Could mean trouble.
During the April 14th board meeting, a trustee vote was held to elect a new board chair.
The previous chair, who had been fairly reasonable in his rulings, Bob Sikora, resigned when the flag controversy broke.
Unfortunately, Sikora sided with the “progressive” trustees to elect Renee Kraft, one of the woke, pro-LGBT ideology trustees as Chair. And almost immediately, she was entertaining discussions about killing Trustee Stanley’s motion and not allowing a vote on it.
Ultimately, she didn’t move to kill it (yet), so Stanley’s motion is still scheduled for a vote at the April 28th board meeting, next Monday.
TAKE ACTION: Attend a rally at the April 28th WCDSB meeting
At Monday’s board meeting, which starts at 6:00 PM, trustees will debate and vote on Conrad Stanley’s motion to ban all political symbols in Catholic schools, including the LGBT Pride flag.
Faithful parents, grandparents, ratepayers and other stakeholders need to show up in even larger numbers to rally in support of Conrad’s motion.
Hopefully, our presence will encourage a majority of trustees to vote YES, and to take sexual politics out of Catholic schools… especially Trustee Sikora, who is at risk of betraying parents as he did by voting to elect a woke Chair.
We will once again be organizing a rally before the meeting begins, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, on Monday April 28th, at the WCDSB office, located at 35 Weber St. W., Kitchener. Signs will be provided.
Please, come join us for the rally, and then, if you can, enter the building at 6:00 PM to watch the debate and voting, and of course, to show Conrad Stanley some moral support.
NOTE: Only the first 150 people in line will be allowed into the board room.
LGBT activists will once again show up early to try to crowd parents out and stack the gallery.
Yes, I know that April 28th is also the date of the federal election. So, please plan to vote before 2:00 PM at your local polling station!
We need your prayers and support, for the love of Jesus Christ, and that he may once again reign over Canada.
Finally, if you intend to join the April 28th rally in person between 2pm to 6pm and/or to attend the board meeting, please email us to let us know so we can track numbers.
