WANTED: Pro-lifers as voting delegates
Do you happen to be a member in good standing of the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC)? Or, perhaps you have a recently-lapsed membership?
If either of these situations applies to you, then we urgently need your help to pass pro-life and pro-family policies, and to elect a new board of directors, at the party's upcoming National Policy Convention.
Let me explain...
In preparation for the party's 2026 Convention, every CPC Electoral District Association in each federal riding across Canada is required to hold a Delegate Selection Meeting (DSM) in the riding.
Please keep your eyes open for any announcement from the party regarding the date, time, and location of this DSM meeting in your riding, and please consider attending.
Why is this action so important?
The CPC’s biennial National Policy Convention will be taking place in Calgary, AB on January 29 - 31, 2026. It is absolutely critical that pro-lifers stack this Convention as voting delegates!!
Whatever policies and constitutional amendments are passed by the thousands of voting Delegates expected to attend the Convention will become the official policy of the Conservative Party of Canada.
We’ve had major policy victories in each of the last four Conventions. Below are just a few examples which still represent the official platform of the CPC today.
Vancouver 2016: Passed a policy to officially condemn sex-selective abortions.
Halifax 2018: Passed a policy opposing the expansion of euthanasia to minors and persons with psychological suffering.
Virtual Convention 2021: A pro-adoption policy which committed to supporting "a National Adoption Strategy including an awareness campaign to promote domestic adoption".
Quebec City 2023: Passed policies which support legislation to ban biological males from female sports and female intimate spaces.
Our long-term goal is to transform the CPC’s Policy Declaration into a document that is explicitly pro-life, pro-family and pro-faith.
But we won’t be able to take this stride forward without the overwhelming presence of socially conservative Delegates at the Convention in Calgary, ready to vote for these types of policy resolutions, along with important constitutional amendments that restore power to the grassroots members.
Another - and absolutely crucial - reason why we need pro-life, pro-family voting delegates in attendance at the Convention, is to elect a new slate of National Councilors, i.e. the executives who govern the CPC between elections and decide on things like which nomination candidates to disqualify.
Unfortunately, there are some corrupt, red Tory National Councilors who often collude with the Leader's office to cheat at Convention to try to kill certain policy and constitutional proposals they don't like.
Therefore, we need to elect socially conservative National Council candidates who will refuse to cheat.
Would you consider making the sacrifice of becoming a 2026 CPC Convention Delegate for your federal riding, in order to advance the cause of life, family and freedom in all these respects?
Become a delegate
In order to become a Delegate, you must attend the Delegate Selection Meeting (DSM) at your federal riding's EDA and put your name forward to serve in this important role (additional details below). Ten delegates will be selected at the meeting, and up to three of them can be youth delegates.
Ten "alternate delegates" will also be selected in case any of the official delegates back out for whatever reason and can't attend the Convention. We need to fill up all 20 of those spots with social conservatives.
There is a tax-deductible Delegate fee that must be paid, but you’d get most of it back on next year’s tax return. Also, most EDAs provide their members a subsidy to cover at least a portion of the hotel, travel and meal costs for the 3-day conference. (Note: fees are much less expensive for youths.)
Find your role and make a difference
Individuals wishing to become a Voting Delegate to the 2026 CPC Convention must be an active member of the CPC 21 days prior to the DSM meeting date.
However, if your CPC membership expired within 90 days prior to the DSM date, then you may renew it now. (Please print out your membership receipt in case you're asked to present it at the door of the DSM.)
Photo ID and proof of address must be shown at the door. If you have a CPC membership card, bring that, too.
Please email your EDA President to indicate that you want to put your name forward to become a Convention Delegate.
IMPORTANT : Please do not mention that you are pro-life. Don't mention Campaign Life Coalition either. We're not well-liked by the party brass.
Those seeking to be Delegates must satisfy all the requirements set out in Section 7 of the Rules and Procedures for Delegate Selection Meetings. Please review these requirements, which include filling out a one-page form (Appendix 'B'), which we have provided here for your convenience.
The form requires endorsement signatures from two other CPC members. If you don't know two other CPC members, Campaign Life Coalition can help you make those connections and get the two additional signatures. Or you can simply go around the room at the DSM and ask other members if they'd be willing to sign your nomination paper. Usually, people are happy to oblige, even if they don't know you.
Please email me by clicking here to let me know if you will consider standing for a position as a 2026 Convention Delegate representing your EDA.
P.S. If you want to attend the January 2026 CPC Convention in Calgary as a Voting Delegate, but aren't a party member, you might try taking a chance by joining the CPC today, in the hope that your EDA's Delegate Selection Meeting won't be held until at least 21 days from now.
