Vacant seats. Let’s fill them.

April 10th is the final day to register as a candidate in the New Brunswick municipal elections... and there are a lot of vacant seats, as we speak, where an acclamation is even possible.

This deadline will be here before you know it, so we need to get organized now.

I wrote you about this back in January, but I think it’s worth mentioning again, because New Brunswick needs good pro-lifers to step up …

Which is why we’re putting out another call for pro-life and pro-family candidates to step forward.

I think it would be wonderful to have at least one pro-lifer elected in every one of the 89 municipal districts across the province.

Some people think that municipal politics doesn’t matter, but not me, not when you look at the bigger picture.

Just look at how left-wing activists often use their position on town or city council to advance pro-abortion and pro-LGBT agendas.

And, they’re doing so in municipalities all across Canada.

They introduce motions to paint over crosswalks, city benches and public transit with the colours of the LGBT Pride flag, using taxpayer dollars.

They’re passing bylaws to ban pro-life signs and public witness within city limits.

This vile, anti-life and anti-family activism is oozing out of city halls across Canada, and New Brunswick is not immune.

Even if it hasn’t come to your town yet, it could happen in the near future if we let the wrong people get elected to council this spring.

The easiest way for us to prevent a far-left take-over of municipal governments is to block their path to electoral victory by running God-fearing candidates of our own.

And before you say it would be impossible to win, let me show you something …

I was doing some research into municipal governments across New Brunswick and do you know what I found?

After the most recent election there were (and still are) 33 vacant seats on municipal councils across the province, which means … if a pro-lifer had put their name in and not even run a campaign, nor knocked on a single door, they would’ve been acclaimed and hold office as a Mayor or Councillor today!

Here’s a list of the current municipal vacancies in New Brunswick for which a pro-lifer like you (if you happen to live there), could still potentially get acclaimed, with some luck, if you throw your hat in the ring:

  • Heron Bay – Mayor

  • Beaurivage – Councillor at Large

  • Campbellton – Mayor

  • Campobello Island – Councillor Ward 2

  • Cap-Acadie – Councillor

  • Champdoré – Mayor

  • Five Rivers – Councillor Ward 3

  • Fredericton – Councillor Ward 12

  • Fundy Shores – Councillor at Large

  • Grand Lake – Councillor Ward 1

  • Grand Lake – Councillor Ward 4

  • Grand Manan – Councillor

  • Hanwell – Councillor Ward 4

  • Hautes-Terres – Councillor Ward 6

  • Kedgwick – Councillor at Large (2 positions)

  • Lakeland Ridges – Councillor Ward 1

  • Memramcook – Councillor

  • Miramichi River Valley – Councillor at Large (3 positions)

  • Nashwaak – Councillor Ward 4

  • Oromocto – Councillor Ward 2

  • Salisbury – Councillor Ward 4

  • Strait Shores – Mayor

  • Strait Shores – Councillor (4 positions)

  • Sunbury-York South – Councillor at Large (2 positions)

  • Sunbury-York South – Councillor Ward 2

  • Tracy – Councillor

The fact of the matter is this …

If we don’t try to win some of these seats, then we’re doomed to get elected representatives who are hostile to Christian values.

That’s what happens when good men stand by and do nothing.

The nomination period runs from March 23rd to April 10th. Visit your town council website for local details and application forms.

I know that pro-life and pro-family New Brunswickers can win a lot of these seats. The goal isn't out of reach.

So, if you’re willing to run for a council position, or you know someone who’d be the perfect fit, please send us an email and let us know.
