Final Vote on Bible Censorship Bill
It comes as no surprise that the Liberals and Bloc Quebecois have moved to push through a final vote on Bill C-9, the “speech control law”, as early as this Friday, March 13th.
Wednesday, March 10th, they voted to prematurely end all committee deliberations and force the Bill through to its third and final reading over the next few days in the House of Commons. They are rushing to shut down debate and muzzle all the negative feedback they’ve been getting on this tyrannical proposal.
That tells me they are worried – worried they are losing support over this Bill.
We now have very little time left – which means we need to turn up the heat on MPs and demand a “NO” vote on Bill C-9.
One of the most dangerous elements of this Bill is the amendment that removes the “religious exemption” in section 319(b) of the Criminal Code. That “religious exemption” codifies our right to appeal to God’s Word when accused of a “hate crime”. It is our right to lawfully tell the powers-that-be: “Thus says the Lord…”
Without that “religious exemption”, police will be able to charge Christians with a “hate crime” for sharing unpopular biblical truths on social and political issues. It won’t matter (legally) if God said it. In fact, some portions of the Bible may be outright declared “hate speech” and subject to state censorship.
Bill C-9 also gives new, expansive powers to police to make arrests for “hate speech” at their sole discretion. You could be questioned and arrested on an anonymous tip from someone claiming that you posted “hate speech” online.
Maybe you said, ‘abortion is murder’. You could be charged with “hate speech” for “vilifying” women who legally abort their children.
Maybe you quoted Jesus and said, ‘God made them male and female.’ You could be charged with “hate speech” for denying the existence of transgenders.
If found guilty, you could face two years in prison.
While many Liberals insist that Bill C-9 will not stifle our constitutional freedom of speech, some have revealed another agenda. Liberal Minister of Culture, Marc Miller, has been quite open about his hopes for this Bill. He stated: “In Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Romans – there’s other passages – there’s clear hatred towards, for example, homosexuals… there should perhaps be discretion for prosecutors to press charges… there are clearly passages in religious texts that are clearly hateful.”
The Bible is not hate speech! This is what I said at the Parliamentary Press Gallery in Ottawa on February 12th when I presented our CLC petition against Bill C-9, signed by over 11,000 Canadians. Unfortunately, instead of hearing our concerns, the Liberals have shut their ears, refused to respond, and are trying to push this Bill through before the opposition gets any stronger.
Our job today and tomorrow is to overwhelm MPs with our calls and emails – to make it impossible for them to ignore us!
Winston Churchill, the British Prime Minister who fought a war against tyranny, said this: “Everyone is in favour of free speech. Hardly a day passes without its being extolled. But some people’s idea of it is that they are free to say what they like, but if anyone else says anything back, that is an outrage.”
For many in the Liberal party, disagreeing with their radical ideology is not only an outrage, it is “hate speech”. And if Bill C-9 passes the House this week, your disagreement with that ideology could land you in jail.
Let’s speak up while we still can. Don’t let them silence us! Don’t let them silence God’s Word!
We have heard that some MPs are on the fence about Bill C-9. Your email or phone call could push them over to our side.
Finally, let’s not forget to pray that God would open the ears and hearts of MPs. We know that He can make the difference.
