New Brunswickers Can Earn Supplemental Income While Defending Life & Family
With municipal council and District Education Council (DEC) elections approaching on May 11, 2026, now is the perfect time to step forward. Many of you already volunteer, advocate, and lead in your communities — running for local office lets you bring strong pro-life and pro-family values directly into decision-making that affects schools, bylaws, community standards, and family policies.
These roles are part-time and provide supplemental income plus reimbursement for travel, meetings, and approved expenses. For many families, this can be a practical way to serve while earning extra income — without requiring you to quit your day job.

Expected Monthly Time Commitment
These are part-time roles (not full-time jobs). Actual hours vary by individual activity level, committee involvement, and local issues, but here is a realistic summary:
| Role | Annual Salary (base) | Expected Hours per Month | Notes on Commitment |
| Town/Rural Councillor (smaller communities) | $4,000 – $15,000 (typical) | 8 – 20 hours | - Monthly (or every 4–6 weeks) council meetings (2–4 hours + prep), occasional committees, public events, and constituent questions. - Lighter workload in small towns. |
| City Councillor (larger centres) | $16,000 – $32,000+ | 15 – 30+ hours | - More frequent meetings, committees, and constituent work due to larger population and complex issues. Still compatible with full-time employment for many. |
| District Education Council – Regular Trustee | $3,000 | 8 – 20 hours | - 1 to 2 meetings per month + related work (prep, school visits, policy review). |
| District Education Council – Chair | $6,000 | 12 – 25 hours | Same as regular + additional meetings with supervisors/directors. |
All roles include unpaid “on-call” elements (e.g., responding to residents or reviewing materials).
Serving on council or a DEC gives you a direct voice on issues that matter most to families — education policies, community standards, bylaws affecting life issues, and more.
Many pro-life and pro-family candidates have made a real difference at the local level.
