Bio

Kathleen Ganley
Not Supportable
CLC rating: Pro-abortion, anti-parental rights, pro-euthanasia
Rating Comments: Rating based on official party policy and voting record. In a display of stunning ignorance and unscientific ideological bias, NDP MLA Ganley actually made an official statement describing pre-natal children as "a clump of cells" (see QUOTES tab).

Official NDP party policy which is pro-abortion and pro-LGBT ideology. According to a January 27 2010 Edmonton Sun article, the New Democratic Party of Alberta published a report calling for greater access to abortion, and complaining that part of the problem is because not enough medical students are taught how to kill babies in-utero.

Here is Kathleen Ganley's voting record relating to life and family issues:

Votes, Surveys and Policy Decision Vote Score
Not Supportable
Bill 24, An Act to Support Gay-Straight Alliances
This atrocious bill, sponsored by the socialist NDP government's Education Minister David Eggen, makes it illegal for school teachers to inform parents of their own children's involvement in homosexualist/transsexualist "GSA" clubs, effectively turning schools into hiding places where children can lead sexual double-lives without their own parents' knowledge. The bill usurps parents' primary rights to direct the moral formation and sexual behaviour of their own children by treating parents as the enemy, inculcating distrust of parents and instigating an attitude of collusion between hired school teachers and other people's children, behind parents' backs. This anti-parent bill passed 42 - 23 upon third reading. [November 15, 2017]
Yes bad
Bill 9, to transform taxpayer-owned public sidewalks near abortion facilities into NO FREE SPEECH ZONES
This unconstitutional, totalitarian law, introduced by the communistic NDP, criminalizes peaceful pro-life expression on taxpayer-owned public property within a radius of up to 150m near abortion facilities. Under this gag law, even silent prayer is outlawed near abortion facilities and people will face up to 1 year in jail and/or be fined up to $10,000. Even freedom of the press is restricted by this law within the No Free Speech Zone. More babies will be killed at the hands of abortionists as a result of these No Free Speech Zones because pro-life sidewalk counsellors are no longer permitted to speak to the mothers entering the abortuary about the choice of adoption, nor to offer support with a crisis pregnancy, nor even to offer scientific information about fetal development to demonstrate that her baby really is a human being. The bill passed by a vote of 45 Yeas to 1 Nay. The UCP MLAs were ordered by Jason Kenney NOT to vote against this horrendous bill, nor even to speak against it during debate. Kenney and many of the UCP MLAs fled the legislature during the vote in order to avoid having to take a stand. [Passed 3rd reading May 30, 2018]

Committee Meeting Record: Motion # 40, made to the Select Special Public Health Act Review Committee, moving that the committee recommend in its report to the Alberta Legislative Assembly that the Public Health Act be amended to explicitly guarantee province-wide access to abortion as a "right"
Moved by radical pro-abortion NDP MLA Kathleen Ganley as being representative of the view of her Party, Motion # 40 sought to impose pro-abortion politics on the Public Health Act by inserting an explicit assertion of a "right to access abortion" throughout Alberta. This maneuver was to be accomplished by convincing her fellow members of the Select Special Public Health Act Review Committee to vote to recommend her Motion to the Legislature, which has the power to amend the Public Health Act. Fortunately, the pro-child-killing Motion was defeated when the majority United Conservative Party committee members voted against it. [Defeated by a vote of 7 to 4 on September 30, 2020]
Yes bad
Committee Meeting Record: Motion # 39, made to the Select Special Public Health Act Review Committee, moving that the committee recommend in its report to the Alberta Legislative Assembly that the Public Health Act be amended to explicitly guarantee province-wide access to euthanasia as a "right"
Moved by pro-euthanasia NDP MLA Sarah Hoffman, Motion # 39 sought to impose euthanasia politics on the Public Health Act by inserting an explicit assertion of a "right to access medical assistance in dying" throughout Alberta. This maneuver was to be accomplished by convincing her fellow members of the Select Special Public Health Act Review Committee to vote to recommend her Motion to the Legislature, which has the power to amend the Public Health Act. Fortunately, the medical homicide Motion was defeated when the majority United Conservative Party committee members voted against it. [Defeated by a vote of 7 to 4 on September 30, 2020]

Here are quotes from Kathleen Ganley on various life and family issues:

Revealing her stunning ignorance and superstitious rejection of the scientific fact that pre-natal children are living human beings:  "What is a life worth? I guess it’s the philosopher in me . . . We are measuring human lives in dollars and cents. I am surprised that we have this conversation so much because a large portion of the members across the way believe that a clump of cells that may one day become a life is worth violating the bodily autonomy of every woman."
[Hansard, Legislative Assembly of Alberta, May 7, 2020]

Advocating that the Alberta provincial government actively facilitate the killing of children by abortion:  "We are proposing that the Public Health Act be amended to expressly set out an individual’s right to access and to be provided abortion services and to codify this in sections 10 and 12 of the act." [Hansard, Legislative Assembly of Alberta, Sept. 29, 2020]

Here are the answers for the questionnaire as provided by Kathleen Ganley on 2023.
