CLC rating: Not supportable
Rating Comments: In response to CLC's 2025 municipal election survey, Mr. Chykerda sent us a nasty email reply in which he refused to respond to the pro-life and free speech related questions. He claimed that "none of the items that you list fall within the realm of duties and responsibilities of muinicipal governments", while also accusing us of "spreading misinformation" and being "highly biased" and "partisan". Stunningly, he referred to our pro-life questionnaire as "a twisted abomination of the core messages that Christ gifted to all humanity". It befuddles us how anybody could consider trying to save unborn babies from being killed by abortion "as a twisted abomination of the core messages that Christ gifted to all humanity". In light of his hostility to the pro-life questionnaire, and, seemingly, to the pro-life movement, CLC had no choice but to rate him as "not supportable".

Organizations like Planned Parenthood (PP) routinely counsel women to have abortions, and increasingly, are involved in dispensing the chemical abortion pill. Given that abortion is a controversial practice that many taxpayers in your municipality find abhorrent, do you agree that PP and similar “sexual health agencies" should not receive taxpayer funds through the municipality? | Refused to reply |
There has been a move in some municipal jurisdictions to pass bylaws which establish censorship zones, also called “bubble zones”, around abortion facilities. These unconstitutional censorship zones make it illegal to express peaceful pro-life speech, including silent prayer, on taxpayer-owned public sidewalks within the vicinity of abortion facilities and pharmacies which dispense abortion pills. If elected, would you vote to oppose such a censorship bylaw, if it were ever proposed? | Refused to reply |
Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? | Refused to reply |
Do you consider yourself pro-life or pro-choice? | -- |
