CLC rating: Pro-abortion, but pro-free speech
Rating Comments: In Werhun's response to CLC's 2026 municipal election survey, he identified as a supporter of abortion in way that is "unambiguous and unyielding". His other answers were at times incoherent, such as the question of whether he would defund Planned Parenthood, Canada's largest abortion referral service, given that many Canadians disagree strongly with the organizations mission of enabling the murder of innocent babies in the womb. He argued that to remove taxpayer dollars from Planned Parenthood would represent the government trying to "intervene in personal and private medical decisions". Werhun was totally oblivious to the irony that funneling scarce public tax dollars to a controversial practice like abortion that is opposed by many taxpayers is what constitutes an unjustifiable intervention. His answer on free speech was generally good, although he left some wiggle room to potentially support a censorship bylaw.

| Question | Response |

| Organizations like Planned Parenthood (PP) routinely counsel women to have abortions, and increasingly, are involved in dispensing the chemical abortion pill. Given that abortion is a controversial practice that many taxpayers in your municipality find abhorrent, do you agree that PP and similar “sexual health agencies" should not receive taxpayer funds through the municipality? | No (don't believe in limiting options) |
| There has been a move in some municipal jurisdictions to pass bylaws which establish censorship zones, also called “bubble zones”, around abortion facilities. These unconstitutional censorship zones make it illegal to express peaceful pro-life speech, including silent prayer, on taxpayer-owned public sidewalks within the vicinity of abortion facilities and pharmacies which dispense abortion pills. If elected, would you vote to oppose such a censorship bylaw, if it were ever proposed? | Yes (on principle but could depend on specifics) |
| Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? | Yes, it is a "start" to human life |
| Do you consider yourself pro-life or pro-choice? | pro-abortion |
