CLC rating: Pro-LGBT ideology; historically pro-abortion
Rating Comments: In a June 8, 2026 CBC article covering a local gay "Pride" event, then-councillor and current mayoral candidate Scott Hamilton condemned his own colleague, incumbent mayor Jan Liggett, for daring to interrupt a pro-LGBT speaker who was using the platform to unfairly attack a member of Council.

In February 2024, as a Cambridge City Councillor, Hamilton voted to eliminate 'female only' washrooms, change rooms, and showers at a local Recreation Centre, thus exposing women and girls in these intimate spaces to partially or fully unclothed men, all in the name of normalizing transgender ideology.

Prior to becoming a Cambridge City Councillor, Mr. Hamilton was the NDP candidate for Cambridge in the 2019 federal election. The NDP are notorious for their rabid, heavy-handed and censorious exaltation of abortion and LGBT ideology.

Here are the answers for the questionnaire as provided by Scott Hamilton on 2026.

Question Response
Organizations like Planned Parenthood (PP) routinely counsel women to have abortions. Given that abortion is a controversial practice that many taxpayers in your municipality find abhorrent, do you agree that PP and similar “sexual health agencies" should not receive taxpayer funds through the municipality? --
Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? --
Do you consider yourself pro-life or pro-choice? --
There has been a move in some municipal jurisdictions to pass bylaws which establish censorship zones, also called “bubble zones”, around abortion facilities. These unconstitutional censorship zones make it illegal to express peaceful pro-life speech, including silent prayer, on taxpayer-owned public sidewalks within the vicinity of abortion facilities and pharmacies which dispense abortion pills. If elected, would you vote to oppose such a censorship bylaw? --
