CLC rating: Pro-family
Rating Comments: Adrian Couwenberg has voted in a staunchly pro-family manner that is respectful towards Norwich Township taxpayers, and deserves to be elected mayor. In April 2023, Councillor Couwenberg seconded a sensible Motion to restrict the flying of flags on municipal property to only official government flags, so as not to cater to special-interest groups (e.g. homosexual or transgender activists). Couwenberg stood firm on his pro-family principles when in January 2024 a colleague introduced a motion to approve flying the LGBTQ "Pride" flag, once again voting against it.

| Flying the controversial gay pride flag over City Hall, despite the fact it contradicts the values and religious beliefs of many citizens who also deserve to be represented by elected officials Many people of faith - Christians, Muslims, Jews, Sikhs, and others, have deeply held religious beliefs about marriage and human sexuality. It is disrepectful to the citizenry for elected officials who have an obligation to represent all constituents, to take one side of a controversial moral issue. |

Here are the answers for the questionnaire as provided by Adrian Couwenberg on 27-Jul-26.
| Question | Response |
|---|---|
| Organizations like Planned Parenthood (PP) routinely counsel women to have abortions. Given that abortion is a controversial practice that many taxpayers in your municipality find abhorrent, do you agree that PP and similar “sexual health agencies" should not receive taxpayer funds through the municipality? | no response |
| Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? | no response |
| Do you consider yourself pro-life or pro-choice? | no response |
| There has been a move in some municipal jurisdictions to pass bylaws which establish censorship zones, also called “bubble zones”, around abortion facilities. These unconstitutional censorship zones make it illegal to express peaceful pro-life speech, including silent prayer, on taxpayer-owned public sidewalks within the vicinity of abortion facilities and pharmacies which dispense abortion pills. If elected, would you vote to oppose such a censorship bylaw? | no response |
