Bio
CLC rating: Pro-abortion
Rating Comments: Elan Harper, the sister-in-law of former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, won the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) nomination in the riding of Calgary Confederation in March 2026 and will thus run as the CPC candidate in the next federal election. During the nomination process, Ms. Harper revealed her aversion to “social conservative issues”, which would include abortion, and used that stance as a wedge position to defeat her pro-life opponent in the nomination.
