MLA Naheed Nenshi
New Democrat Party, Edmonton-Strathcona, AB
Bio

CLC rating: Pro-abortion, anti-parental rights
Rating Comments: In June 2025, radicial pro-abortion and pro-LGBT ideologue Naheed Nenshi won the provincial by-election in the riding of Edmonton-Strathcona, taking a seat in the Alberta Legislature for the first time since becoming leader of the socialist NDP in June of 2024, when he replaced resigning party leader and disastrous former premier Rachel Notley.
As Mayor of Calgary from 2010 to 2021, Mr. Nenshi had a truly appalling anti-life-and-family voting record. On October 6, 2020, then-Mayor Nenshi voted to stifle free speech, including that of pro-lifers, by supporting a Motion to banish advocacy of any kind from the vicinity of school property, reducing the allowable size of signage to absurdly small dimensions, and imposing punishing fines for breaching the no-free-speech Bubble Zones.
Only months before, on May 25, 2020, Nenshi voted to pass a tyrannical ban on so-called "conversion therapy", thereby robbing Calgarians of their human right to freely seek therapy and council to overcome unwanted homoerotic and transsexualist fixations.
Previously, on February 3, 2020, Nenshi joined Calgary City Councillors to unanimously pass a motion to draft the bylaw banning this beneficial and effective practice within the city boundaries. The bylaw bans psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, priests and pastors from providing counselling support to patients who request assistance with unwanted same-sex attraction and gender identity confusion. It will also inevitably lead to the de-facto criminalization of key Christian teachings on human sexuality, predictably including public prayer and evangelization to call homosexuals out of a sinful lifestyle. As Mayor of Calgary, Nenshi was one of the most outspoken promoters of this totalitarian ban.
In 2011, Nenshi became the first mayor of Calgary to participate as the so-called "grand marshal" of the infamous Calgary LGBT "Pride" parade. During the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Russia, he used Calgary City Hall as a platform to promote LGBT hegemony by flying the notorious "rainbow" flag - a deliberate act of defiance against Russia's sane and prudent policy to protect Russian society against LGBT propaganda.
