On April 18, 2016, as PC Party Leader McIver was ejected from the Alberta Legislature's session by NDP House Speaker Bob Wanner. In a show of true conviction, McIver defended his Party's Motion 504 to protect parental choice of educational delivery (including home, private, and separate schools) by challenging Speaker Wanner's ruling to allow an NDP Amendment to Motion 504 and refusing to take his seat again until the ruling was reversed. The NDP Amendment would have gutted the PC Motion by "allowing parents the choice of education delivery for their children...where they offer alternatives not available in the public system," clearly implying that children belong to the Government instead of to their parents. CLC applauds Mr. McIver, on this occasion, for courageously defending parental choice in education.
Previously, for four years, Mr. McIver participated in the March for Jesus in Calgary, which is organized by a group that disagreed with the homosexual lifestyle on its website. Once the media picked up this story, however, McIver distanced himself from the group, saying he would no longer support them and that he was angry at their statements about homosexuals. He announced plans to attend a gay rodeo and possibly Calgary's Pride Parade. No response to multiple transmissions of CLC's election questionnaire.

| Bill 9, to transform taxpayer-owned public sidewalks near abortion facilities into NO FREE SPEECH ZONES This unconstitutional, totalitarian law, introduced by the communistic NDP, criminalizes peaceful pro-life expression on taxpayer-owned public property within a radius of up to 150m near abortion facilities. Under this gag law, even silent prayer is outlawed near abortion facilities and people will face up to 1 year in jail and/or be fined up to $10,000. Even freedom of the press is restricted by this law within the No Free Speech Zone. More babies will be killed at the hands of abortionists as a result of these No Free Speech Zones because pro-life sidewalk counsellors are no longer permitted to speak to the mothers entering the abortuary about the choice of adoption, nor to offer support with a crisis pregnancy, nor even to offer scientific information about fetal development to demonstrate that her baby really is a human being. The bill passed by a vote of 45 Yeas to 1 Nay. The UCP MLAs were ordered by Jason Kenney NOT to vote against this horrendous bill, nor even to speak against it during debate.
