Candidate, Jim Lester
Progressive Conservative Party, Mount Pearl North, NL
Bio

CLC rating: Educable on abortion; Pro-free speech
Rating Comments: While door-knocking during the campaign, Lester spoke with a pro-life voter who asked him his views on the right to life of unborn children.
He initially told the voter that he felt abortion was a “woman’s right to choose". But when the pro-lifer described an abortion procedure, he was flabbergasted and backtracked, saying he really only thought that was acceptable if a woman’s life was "in danger".
He also said he opposes the idea of "bubble zone" censorship laws targeting pro-life speech.
If Mr. Lester can be further educated by local pro-lifers, he may one day come around to being fully pro-life.
