CLC rating: Pro-euthanasia, Unknown on abortion
Rating Comments: Jordan did not respond to CLC's 2025 Ontario provincial election questionnaire, so his views on life issues is not known.

However, we have concerns that he may be a supporter of euthanasia killings. On May 4, 2026 his office responded to a constituent's request to table a petition at Queen's Park that urges the Ford Administration to introduce legislation modelled Alberta's Bill 18 which bans euthanasia for mental illness, for children, and for those who are not dying, with a disturbing refusal to table the petition. Specifically, his office claimed that a bill to restrict euthanasia "conflicts with the federal Criminal Code and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms".

Here is John Jordan's voting record relating to life and family issues:

Votes, Surveys and Policy Decision Vote Score
Motion 36 - To expand OHIP coverage to include universal access to all prescription contraception.
This motion would have expanded the scope of the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) to cover the cost of all prescription contraceptives, including oral hormone pills, copper IUDs, implants and the abortifacient drug called Plan B. This motion was defeated on Nov. 30, 2023, by a vote of 61-23. The voting broke down along party lines with the Ontario PCs opposing this free, taxpayer-funded contraception plan, while the support for the scheme came from NDP and Liberal MPPs.
Opposed ok

Here are quotes from John Jordan on various life and family issues:

Jordan's declined to table a petition calling for a law like Alberta's, to restrict euthanasia killings:  "After much consideration, MPP Jordan has decided not to table the petition.

Rest assured, the decision was not made lightly, as matters relating to MAID involve deeply personal, ethical and legal dimensions. There are strongly held views on all sides of the conversation.

While he respects the intent behind the petition, he doesn’t believe tabling it in the fall would be the appropriate action for him, as the framework for MAID is and will continue to evolve.

We should also mention that what Alberta is doing with its proposed legislation, Bill 18, conflicts with the federal Criminal Code and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and will likely be decided in court, rather than within its legislature.

As you are aware, this legislation was brought forth by the federal government and by law, Ontario delivers the MAID program under this federal framework."
