CLC rating: Pro-abortion, pro-LGBT ideology
Rating Comments: Paul Chiang is rated as Pro-abortion and Pro-LGBT ideology based on his past as a federal election candidate for the Liberal Party of Canada, where he had to agree to vote in favour of abortion and LGBT ideology as a condition of being accepted as a candidate.

On March 31, 2025, as an incumbent Liberal MP, Mr. Chiang withdrew from the 2025 federal election amid the controversy caused by his comments to Chinese-language media at a news conference in January of that year where he suggested that people should hand over his Conservative opponent, Joe Tay, to the Communist Chinese consulate to collect a reward being offered on Mr. Tay's head by Hong Kong police.

Here are the answers for the questionnaire as provided by Paul Chiang on 2026.

Question Response
Organizations like Planned Parenthood (PP) routinely counsel women to have abortions. Given that abortion is a controversial practice that many taxpayers in your city/municipality find abhorrent, do you agree that PP and its affiliates should not receive taxpayer funds through the city/municipality? survey not sent
Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? survey not sent
Do you consider yourself pro-life or pro-choice? survey not sent
There has been a move in some municipal jurisdictions to pass bylaws which establish censorship zones, also called “bubble zones”, around abortion facilities. These unconstitutional censorship zones make it illegal to express peaceful pro-life speech, including silent prayer, on taxpayer-owned public sidewalks within the vicinity of abortion facilities and pharmacies which dispense abortion pills. If elected, would you vote to oppose such a censorship bylaw? survey not sent
