Halton Catholic District School Board trustees voting on a pro-life motion

If you happen to be Catholic, I need your help with something urgent. Even if you're not Catholic, you can still assist with this pro-life call-to-action by sharing this email with your Catholic friends and neighbours.

There’s a critical vote happening tomorrow by trustees in the Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB).

It’s on a motion to help make your area's Catholic schools more pro-life by keeping money away from organizations involved with abortion.

Let me explain some of the backstory …

Helena Karabela, one of the faithful trustees on the board, brought forward a motion back in May titled Upholding the Sanctity of Life in Fundraising Services at the Halton Catholic District School Board.

The name says it all, doesn’t it?

If passed, it’ll ensure that no school in the board will take part in any kind of fundraising for charities and non-profit organizations that are involved with abortion or embryonic stem cell research.

The motion is written incredibly well, too, from a Catholic perspective.

Helena took the time to spell out the dignity and sanctity of human life by quoting heavily from some key Church documents.

She even cites a poignant quote from St. Mother Teresa, who once described abortion as being “the greatest destroyer of peace, because it destroys two lives, the life of the child and the conscience of the mother.”

Every student, parent, and anyone in Halton who supports the separate school system should read this.

It’s one of the most common sense, pro-life motions I’ve seen in a long time.

None of what’s written in there could ever be labelled as controversial to faithful Catholics, especially to the men and women who were elected to uphold Christian values in the separate school board.

But here’s the thing …

The devil loves abortion. He also loves sowing moral confusion. So it’s no surprise that a number of dissident trustees want to shoot down Helena’s motion.

They would love to open your schools to popular, secular fundraising campaigns, even though some of them support the dehumanization, dismemberment, and killing of unborn children.

If passed, Trustee Karabela's motion will ban school fundraisers and donation drives from benefitting these pro-death campaigns.

Unless this motion becomes official school board policy, here's a scenario that can, and may be happening already …

Imagine some faithful Catholic parents giving little Johnny or Suzie a ten dollar bill for a new fundraising drive at school.

They don’t think anything of it because they’re busy and they love giving to “charity.”

Weeks later, though, after the money has already been handed over, they go online and find out that they just sent money to some organization that’s directly or indirectly involved in the slaughter of innocent, unborn children.

What will go through their minds then?

That’s not how they thought their money would be used, but at that point, it’s too late.

You know, Victor, it doesn’t have to be that way.

Situations like that never need to happen.

That’s why your trustees need a gentle reminder of what it means to be an elected official in the service of Christ, especially with the municipal election just a few months away.

So here’s the plan …

We need all our supporters, including you, to contact the trustees of the Halton Catholic District School Board and respectfully insist that they vote in favor of Trustee Karabela’s Sanctity of Life fundraising motion.

The vote is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7th, at 7:00 p.m.

You won’t need to hunt down any contact information, because it’s all listed right here, directly from the HCDSB website:

We don’t have a lot of time.

Trustees need to hear from residents and ratepayers who live within the boundaries of the Halton Catholic District School Board right away, so please phone them AND email them.

They need to hear from every pro-lifer in the region that no Catholic school should ever send a single cent to a group that directly or indirectly funds, promotes, or advances the killing babies in the womb, nor which advances destructive experimentation on, and commodification of, embryonic human beings.

If you want to watch the meeting tomorrow and see how things play out, you can visit the board’s YouTube channel and watch the livestream.

Helena is really stepping up to the plate here by putting forward her motion, and she needs our support.

If we can help, in anyway, to pass this motion, we’ll be dealing a financial blow to Big Abortion, and keeping Catholic’s free from being complicit in the sins of an industry dedicated to the destruction of human lives and families.

Thank you kindly for your help and God bless.
