Campaign Life Coalition praises Toronto Police for recognizing unborn victim of violence

Toronto, February 28, 2017 – Almost a year ago, a devastating drive-by shooting took the life of a pregnant Mississauga woman as well as her unborn child. During today’s press conference, the Toronto Police stated that the suspects of this horrific crime would also be charged with a second homicide in the death of the baby.

“Almost a year ago, after this crime took place, Campaign Life Coalition was among the first voices who called on police to lay additional murder charges in the death of Candice Rochelle Bobb’s unborn child,” said Jeff Gunnarson, Vice-President, Campaign Life Coalition. “Today, Toronto police have done the right thing by recognizing that an unborn baby was also a victim of homicide, along with his mother.”

“The police today deserve praise for not allowing abortion politics to stand in the way of justice for the two people who were killed by this deplorable gang violence,” said Jack Fonseca, spokesperson for Campaign Life Coalition. “A human life is a human life.”

Campaign Life Coalition applauds the police for acknowledging both victims, when in so many other attacks on pregnant women and their pre-born children, political correctness has robbed the surviving family of justice. That was the case with Cassie and Molly’s Law, a bill that aimed to make "a separate offence to cause injury or death to a pre-born child during the commission of an offence against the child's mother". Tragically, that common-sense Bill did not obtain the support of a majority of MPs in October 2016.

Campaign Life Coalition urges citizens to help solve these despicable murders by providing police with any knowledge about the attackers.
