Poilievre out of step with Battle River–Crowfoot pro-life values, poll finds
Pierre Poilievre’s “pro-choice” position does not align with the values of the voters he’s hoping to represent in the August 18 Battle River–Crowfoot by-election, according to a new poll.
The survey, conducted by National Public Research Canada for Campaign Life Coalition, found that almost 80 percent of constituents have vastly different values compared to Poilievre when it comes to protecting preborn humans from abortion.
The survey found that 79.4% of constituents said they were strongly opposed to the legalization of abortion in varying respects, compared with only 11.6% who support Poilievre’s position of unrestricted access to abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy. The remaining 9% were undecided.
The poll, conducted on July 23, 2025, surveyed 599 respondents in the riding of Battle River-Crowfoot and has a theoretical margin of error of ±4.0%, 19 times out of 20.
“Pierre is out of step with the voters on abortion”, said Jeff Gunnarson, National President of Campaign Life Coalition. “The survey results place Poilievre’s stance within the small minority of just under 12% of Battle River-Crowfoot voters who support abortion-on-demand throughout all nine months of pregnancy, for any reason or no reason at all.”
The 79% figure breaks down into categories of varying opposition to abortion, with 17% opposing all abortions, nearly 27% opposing all abortions except for rape and incest, and 35% wanting to ban abortion after the first trimester.
“Mr. Poilievre appears to be hoping for a marriage of convenience in this by-election, united to constituents almost solely by their common opposition to Liberals”, stated Gunnarson. “Will the voters of Battle River-Crowfoot settle for convenience, or will they choose someone who truly represents their values?”
“They would find a better match in any of the three pro-life candidates we endorsed, who are also applying for the job of Battle River-Crowfoot MP in the August 18 by-election. Those are Jonathan Bridges (People’s Party), Grant Abraham (United Party), and Jeff Willerton (Christian Heritage Party).”
Campaign Life Coalition is urging Battle River-Crowfoot voters not to vote for Mr. Poilievre because he supports killing children in the womb. Instead, the pro-life organization urges people to vote their values by casting a ballot for Mr. Abraham, Mr. Bridges or Mr. Willerton.
The public opinion poll also surveyed Battle River-Crowfoot residents on the topics of taxpayer funding of abortion, banning child sex change interventions, and protecting female sports from invasion by biological males. More details can be found on our website here.
