Bio

Ted Hsu
Not Supportable
CLC rating: Pro-abortion
Rating Comments: Mr. Hsu if a former federal Liberal Member of Parliament. As an MP, he refused to sign CLC's election questionnaire. In a 2011 conversation with CLC leaders, MP Hsu said he was personally opposed to abortion but would not use his leadership role in the federal government to fight it and would not vote for any measures for the protection of human life. He said 'climate change' and poverty are his concerns, not the killing of in-the-womb babies, even in his local hospital. In 2012, he voted against pro-life Conservative MP Stephen Woodworth's principled Motion 312 to study whether a child in the womb is a human being based on the preponderance of evidence from modern medical science. Hsu also voted in favour of the reckless, transgender 'Bathroom Bill' (C-279) which puts girls and women at risk by creating a counterfeit, legal 'right' for men to access women's bathrooms and changerooms.

Motion 36 - To expand OHIP coverage to include universal access to all prescription contraception.
This motion would have expanded the scope of the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) to cover the cost of all prescription contraceptives, including oral hormone pills, copper IUDs, implants and the abortifacient drug called Plan B. This motion was defeated on Nov. 30, 2023, by a vote of 61-23. The voting broke down along party lines with the Ontario PCs opposing this free, taxpayer-funded contraception plan, while the support for the scheme came from NDP and Liberal MPPs.
