John Allen
St. Albert Public Schools - AB
Electoral District: Elected at-large
Bio

CLC rating: Not supportable
Rating Comments: Mr. Allen's responses to CLC's 2025 election survey were mixed. Although he "100%" supports the right of parents to withdraw their children from any classroom lesson or presentation dealing with LGBT ideology, abortion, sex ed, etc, he unfortunately seems to hold the view that the role of an elected trustee is not primarily to represent the interests of parents, but rather, to do the will of the government as laid out in laws and regulations. On this basis, CLC originally rated Mr. Allen as "educable" on the issue of parental rights. However, Mr. Allen also responded to a 2025 questionnaire circulated by an Alberta-based parental rights group called Parents for Choice in Education, to which he gave additional mixed and/or unfavourable responses to questions concerning parental rights in education. Those response indicate that he cannot be relied upon to defend, or may actively undermine, parental rights.
