Voters Guide BC Conservative Party Leadership 2026

CLC was initially endorsing pro-life MLA Bruce Banman for the leadership, but unfortunately, he withdrew from the race. Of the remaining contestants, Kerry-Lynne Findlay and Yuri Fulmer seem to be the ones who have the strongest pro-life, pro-family leanings, but none of them can actually be considered fully pro-life. Thus, Campaign Life Coalition is unable to endorse any of the five.

Nonetheless, we're sharing with our BC supporters where each of the candidates stand on issues of life, family, faith and freedom based on their public statements and applicable voting records.

ABORTION:  As a federal MP, Findlay had both good and bad votes on abortion.

GOOD: In 2021, she voted in support of Bill C-233 to outlaw sex-selective abortions. BAD: In 2012, she voted against Motion 312. It sought to study the Criminal Code's outdated definition of "human being" which falsely claims that a baby only comes into existence once he or she has fully exited the birth canal.

EUTHANASIA: As a former MP, Findlay voted consistently against euthanasia. Still today, she opposes the expansion of the Liberal euthanasia regime. Furthermore, she told a pro-life group called RightNow that if she was elected Premier, she would pass legislation to protect the conscience rights of healthcare professionals and institutions who do not wish to offer euthanasia or assisted suicide.

FREE VOTES: Findlay told the pro-life group, RightNow, that if she were to become Leader, she would allow MLAs to have free votes on matters of conscience, including abortion. She also said she would not dissuade MLAs from bringing forth private members bills related to abortion or euthanasia.

LGBT IDEOLOGY: Findlay has a mixed record on LGBT ideology. At the moment, she has good stances, strongly opposing LGBT school curriculum and saying she'll repeal SOGI. She pledged to"immediately BAN the administration of medical and social gender transitions for children", if elected Premier. She also promised to keep trans-identifying biological males out of girls' locker rooms and to "put parents back in charge".

However, when she was an MP, she fully supported homosexual and transgender  ideology. In 2012, Findlay voted to enshrine "gender identity" and "gender expression" in the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code. In 2021, she voted in favor of Justin Trudeau's so-called "conversion therapy ban", Bill C-6, which made it a criminal act for loving parents, psychotherapists and pastors to help persons with unwanted gender confusion to feel at home in the bodies God gave them. To this day, she has not apologized for, nor recanted that vote.

OTHER:  As an MP, she voted against censorship legislation and against legalizing prostitution.

ABORTION: In an interview with pro-life organization RightNow, Fulmer gave one of the common "pro-choice" responses, stating that he doesn't believe abortion should be legislated by government, but rather, should be up to each woman to discern with her family and her conscience. He also claimed that he'd like abortion to be "rare" by "focusing on root causes" instead of legislation. In the same interview, Fulmer said he would not support a parental notification or consent law regarding minors seeking abortions.

On a more positive note, Fulmer said if he became Premier, he would "ensure that comprehensive educational resources detailing the potential short-and long-term health effects of abortion are fully available to women". Furthermore, he would ensure that no health care professional or faith-based facility "is ever forced to participate in, or refer for" abortion.

EUTHANASIA: Fulmer promised to oppose the expansion of euthanasia to those suffering solely from mental illness, and to protect the conscience rights of health care professionals and faith-based facilities that do not wish to participate in, or refer for, euthanasia.

FREE VOTES: Fulmer told pro-life group, RightNow, that if he were to become Leader, he would allow MLAs to have free votes on matters of conscience, including abortion. He also said he would not dissuade MLAs from bringing forth private members bills related to abortion or euthanasia.

LGBT IDEOLOGY: In an interview with Billboard Chris, Fulmer promised to "ban puberty blockers and sex change operations for minors". He opposes social transitioning for minor children, and schools socially transitioning kids at school, behind parents' backs. Fulmer promised to repeal the provinical LGBT school curriculum called SOGI 123. Furthermore, he stated that as Premier, he would remove "gender identity" from the BC Human Rights Code.

OTHER:  Fulmer promised that his government would never introduce mandatory digital ID, a tool which can be used for totalitarian surveillance and state control. He has criticized the provincial government for shutting down church worship services during the Covid lockdowns. He also pledges to ban compelled speech as a condition for employment in the public sector.

On a negative note, during his time as a University chancellor, Fulmer fully engaged in woke, DEI identity politics, something he now implies he regrets having done.

ABORTION:  Black never responded to CLC's candidate questionnaire when he ran in the 2025 federal election. Neither has he ever publicly spoken about abortion. Therefore his view on abortion is unknown.

EUTHANASIA: Black says he supports patients having the legal "choice" to get killed by a doctor, but he opposes the government forcing palliative care facilities like the Delta Hospice Society to participate in euthanasia killings under threat of losing public funding.

FREE VOTES: Black has never pledged to allow MLAs free votes on matters of conscience (such as abortion or euthanasia) or stated that he would permit MLAs to introduce private members' bills on these topics.

LGBT IDEOLOGY: Black pledged to scrap the LGBT ideology program called SOGI 123 in schools. In response to a question by Juno News, Black also stated that he agreed with the Alberta government's law which bans puberty blockers and sex-change interventions for minors, although he stopped short of promising to implement such legislation in BC; to date, he has not made that explicit pledge.

OTHER: Black opposes the NDP's policy of supplying heroin, crack and other dangerous drugs to addicts, and he also opposes legal drug injection sites. Black has pleged to eliminate the corrupt B.C. Human Rights Tribunal, a body that routinely persecutes Christians (e.g. former school trustee Barry Neufeld) and social conservatives, and instead, to return the enforcement of human rights to the B.C. Supreme Court.

ABORTION:  Elliott has never made any public statements on the topic of abortion. Therefore, her stance on the right to life for babies in the womb is unknown.

EUTHANASIA: Elliott has never made any public statements on the topic of euthanasia. Therefore, her stance on allowing doctors to murder their patients is unknown.

FREE VOTES: Elliott has never pledged to allow MLAs free votes on matters of conscience (such as abortion or euthanasia) or stated that she would permit MLAs to introduce private members' bills on these topics.

LGBT IDEOLOGY: Elliott has a mixed record on LGBT ideology. Now, she is pledging to "ban puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and transgender surgeries on minors". She further committed to using the Notwithstanding Clause if necessary to protect the ban from legal challenges, modeling it after Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s approach. She is also pledging to repeal the LGBT ideology program known as SOGI 123 in schools.

However, when she was a Liberal MLA in 2020, she stated on live television that she found "abhorrent" the views of her fellow MLA, Laurie Throness, for having expressed opposition to SOGI 123 and the federal "conversion therapy ban".

OTHER:  During a candidates debate, Elliott said the she welcomes Christians and social conservatives in the party, likely to walk back her 2020 comments about her colleague's Christian views being "abhorrent".

ABORTION:  Milobar never responded to CLC's candidate questionnaire when he ran for MLA in the last provincial election. Neither has he ever publicly spoken about abortion. Therefore his view on the right to life of babies in the womb is unknown.

EUTHANASIA: Milobar has never made any public statements on the topic of euthanasia. Therefore, his stance on allowing doctors to murder their patients is unknown.

FREE VOTES:  Milobar has never pledged to allow MLAs free votes on matters of conscience (such as abortion or euthanasia) or stated that he would permit MLAs to introduce private members' bills on these topics.

LGBT IDEOLOGY: As an MLA, Milobar voted in favour of Bill M-214 which sought to keep biological males out of women's and girls' sports teams, and to rein in pro-transgender sporting associations that punish whistleblowers for trying to prevent this invasion of female sports. He also voted in favour of Bill M-216, which aimed to ban puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and sex-change mutilation surgery for children. Despite his good voting record on trans ideology, Milobar has not pledged to introduce legislation to criminalize sex-change mutilation of minor children.

OTHER: Milobar voted in support of a very good bill which sought to abolish the corrupt BC Human Rights Tribunal, after it fined a Christian former school trustee $750,000 for opposing transgender ideology.
