CLC rating: Pro-LGBT ideology, anti-free-speech
Rating Comments: Elected offical Sandy Shantz, mayor of Woolwich, cheered on and fully supported the placement of an LGBT crosswalk with taxpayer dollars in the Kitchener-Waterloo municipality. She refused to accept that this was offensive to resident, devout Christians, Jews, Muslims and Sikhs who hold the traditional defintion of marriage, stating that all "great" religious leaders and philosophers preached "love and tolerance", an idea which she lives by herself. Shantz also said she reads the "Bible differently" than those who have traditional marriage views and will continue to be an advocate for LGBT rights and ideologies.

On September 27, 2023, at a Waterloo Regional Council meeting, she also voted in favour of an unconstitutional censorship by-law designed to ban residents from exercising their free speech and right to protest against Gender Ideology and LGBT propaganda anywhere on taxpayer-owned, Regional property and regional buses and LRT trains.

Here are the answers for the questionnaire as provided by Sandy Shantz on July 26, 2022.

Question Response
Organizations like Planned Parenthood (PP) routinely counsel women to have abortions. Given that abortion is a controversial practice that many taxpayers in your municipality find abhorrent, do you agree that PP and similar “sexual health agencies" should not receive taxpayer funds through the municipality? No response
Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? No response
Do you consider yourself pro-life or pro-choice? No response
There has been a move in some municipal jurisdictions to pass bylaws which establish censorship zones, also called “bubble zones”, around abortion facilities. These unconstitutional censorship zones make it illegal to express peaceful pro-life speech, including silent prayer, on taxpayer-owned public sidewalks within the vicinity of abortion facilities and pharmacies which dispense abortion pills. If elected, would you vote to oppose such a censorship bylaw? No response
