Candidate, Dan Weber
Progressive Conservative Party, Waterloo, ON
Bio
CLC rating: Educable
Rating Comments: He considers himself to be pro-life and said that as a practicing Catholic, he accepts the teaching of the Catholic Church on life issues. He answered CLC's provincial questionnaire fairly well, with the exception of refusing to commit that he would vote in favour of pro-life private members bills. He insisted that he could not commit to always voting in favour of pro-life private members bills or motions "without first reading them and considering all implications". When asked for examples of "implications" that might cause him to vote against the pro-life beliefs he claims to hold, he could not think of any, but nonetheless would not budge from that position, even when presented with examples of modest, non-controversial pro-life legislation which could potentially be introduced at Queen's Park.
