Bio

Don Morgan
Not Supportable
CLC rating: Pro-abortion
Rating Comments: Mr. Morgan did not respond to CLC's 2020 election questionnaire.

Previously, he said that he would enforce the Canada Health Act which he alleges necessitates the funding of preborn child murder (it does not). As Justice Minister, Morgan showed cowardice and negligence of his duties by refusing to challenge a non-binding ruling by the Saskatchewan Court of Appeals which told his ministry that the government must force Saskatchewan marriage commissioners to perform homosexual "marriages", or else fire them. Orginally, Morgan had been working with his government to find a solution that protected the religious freedom and conscience rights of Saskatchewan marriage commissioners, but after the court "reference", he decided to abandon the commissioners to the tryanny of gay "marriage".

Here are quotes from Don Morgan on various life and family issues:

Morgan responded with a cowardly response, to a letter sent to him by Maurice Vellacott, MP for Saskatoon-Wanuskewin, in which the MP expressed his concern with the court’s ruling that the Saskatchewan provincincial gov't must force marriage commissioners to "wed" homosexuals, or else fire them. Vellacott had argued that the court decision violated the provisions of the 2005 Civil Marriage Act, the federal law which implemented same sex 'marriage' in Canada. That law specifically included a provision intended to protect freedom of conscience and religion:  “the court has suggested that even if we did establish a single entry point system, it may not stand up in court in any event... With respect to your statement that the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal Marriage Act reference decision violates the provisions of the federal 2005 Civil Marriage Act, my Ministry does not take that position.” [LifeSiteNews.com, 'Saskatchewan Justice Minister says no workable options - commissioners must marry homosexuals, Feb. 8, 2011]

Mr. Morgan will be enforcing the Canada Health Act which allows the killing of the innocent human life.  “I don’t know what will happen in Ottawa and I don’t know what will happen elsewhere, but right now we have the decision made by the Supreme Court, we’ve got the Canada Health Act, and that’s what we’ll enforce,” [Global News, 'NDP health critic questions why attorney general is answering abortion related questions', November 28, 2017]

In the legislature, Morgan spoke favourably about a recommendation on scrapping that province's controversial Human Rights Tribunals and having human rights cases heard by the regular court system instead:  "This is a recommendation that's come forward and is a recommendation that, in fact, may have some merit. There are criticisms that the Saskatchewan Human Rights Tribunal may be seen as too close to the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission… having the courts handle human rights complaints will increase the perception of fairness, while adding a level of expertise by allowing judges to hold these hearings... hearings that follow the formal rules of evidence that are followed in court, which should improve public confidence in the hearing process." [LifeSiteNews.com, 'Canadian Province May Scrap Controversial Human Rights Tribunal', April 21, 2010]

Here are the answers for the questionnaire as provided by Don Morgan on July 2020.

Question Response
Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? no response
Are there any circumstances under which you believe a woman should have access to abortion? (note: a surgical or medical intervention, designed to prevent the death of the mother but but which results in the unintended and undesired death of the pre-born child, is not an abortion. e.g. in cases of tubal pregnancy or cervical cancer) no response
Will you support measures to stop funding abortions with taxpayers' money in Saskatchewan? no response
Do you agree women have the right to be thoroughly informed about the serious health consequences of abortion, the development of the child in the womb and the alternatives to abortion? no response
Will you support the rights of parents to withdraw their children from school classes which offend their moral principles or beliefs concerning abortion, contraception and homosexuality? no response
Euthanasia is the deliberate killing of a person by action or omission, with or without that person's consent, for what people mistakenly believe are compassionate reasons. Will you oppose euthanasia and support measures to promote 'palliative care', the purpose of which is to alleviate pain and enhance quality of life for terminally ill patients? no response
Will you support legislation to protect the right of health care workers who refuse to participate in procedures which are in violation of their religious or conscientious beliefs? no response
