Rating Comments: On October 15, 2020, in a move that no doubt pleased the ruling socialist NDP party, BC Liberal leader Andrew Wilkinson accepted the resignation of Liberal MLA Laurie Throness, who was pressured to resign over comments he made in opposition to the NDP's scheme to provide free, tax-payer-funded contraception throughout the province. Throness thoughtfully compared the NDP's contraception drug-pushing to a kind of soft eugenics, which would implicitly encourage the poor to contracept themselves out of existence. Throness immediately came under fire for making that comparision and offered his resignation, which Liberal Party Leader Wilkinson quickly accepted, sheepishly kowtowing to the NDP/progressivist bloc by disavowing Throness' reasonable comments. Wilkinson also made it clear that the BC Liberal Party under his leadership is pro-abortion and supports universal free contraction to all in BC, at tax-payers' expense (see Quotes tab).
